Gianni Denitto is an eclectic saxophonist whose roots ground in classical music, flourish in the jazz world to finally bloom in the synthesis of acoustic and electronic sounds.
A proud artist of Eventide Audio AND Rampone & Cazzani HANDMADE saxophones, Gianni has always been fond of jazz improvisation, world music, electronics and sound design.
The album Brain on a Sofa (2015) has led Gianni to explore several countries such as India, China, Nepal and Senegal; a life experience that inspired his brand new record, "Kāla", released in June 2018 for "Elastica Records" and anticipated by a single, "Café d'Arab" released in November 2017 in vinyl only.
Gianni’s soundscapes and musical research have been strongly influenced by a three-year world- tour, masterclasses in international conservatories and academies, and above all by several collaborations with musician of different cultures and traditions. “Kāla” is a musical and geographical journey exploring the nuances of saxophone sound and the boundaries of world music. A journey that connects Morocco’s darbuka to Dakar’s balafon, the melodies of Indian raga to the African-American jazz improvisation. Kāla, “time” in Sanskrit, collects 6 songs. The saxophone is the absolute protagonist in this mixture of world music, electronics and jazz. Denitto's album crosses the traditional African sounds in Touki Bouki, the rarefied atmosphere of Northern Europe in Tillsammans and it balances the traditional sounds and the underground scene of the new China in Air China. Special guests: Zion Train, Masia One, Roots by Nature, Supriyo Dutta, Cheikh Fall, Djiby Diabate.
In September 2019 Gianni, in collaboration with Oyez!, released the Kāla Remix pack. Seven new versions produced by seven great electronic music producers.
